Missing teen's body found in woods

Deputies say Lauren Maria Jenkins was involved in an accident late Friday night at the intersection of Leesville Rd. and Oneal Rd.

He returned to the area Saturday morning, where he found Wake County deputies searching for Jenkins, he said.

- A Leesville Road High School student who was found dead early Sunday, a day after she was involved in a crash, had alcohol in her vehicle, authorities said Monday.

The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash remained on the scene and was not injured, Gray said.

Officials say her body was found in a wooded area Sunday near the intersection where the crash happened, which was in north Raleigh.

Gray declined to say what kind of alcohol was in the vehicle - it's still unclear whether alcohol played a role in the crash - but he said Jenkins faced at least a hit-and-run charge, so he went looking for her. "Then I recognized the totaled auto (in photos). I wish she could have been found". She described her friend as adventurous, kind-hearted and loyal.

Jenkins was a student at Leesville Road High School. "Lauren was honestly one of the most incredible people I have ever met".
