The Dark Tower poster surfaces

So, as you can see, the poster can be viewed in two different directions: as above, with Roland (Idris Elba) and Jake (Tom Taylor) standing at the bottom, or flipped upside-down.

The most eagle-eyed will also have noticed another mysterious figure in black to his side.

Thankfully, things looks set to change now with the arrival of the blockbuster's first poster, which teases a trippy adventure into "other worlds".

An official poster for the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower has been released and it hides the titular tower in plain sight. It also reinforces a July 28 release date, reassuring fans who were concerned about possible production troubles.

Explaining what exactly The Dark Tower is takes some work, as the film is being billed as a "sci-fi fantasy horror western", which is simultaneously very specific and unhelpfully vague. Arcel co-wrote the screenplay for the film, based on the books by King, along with Akiva Goldsman, Jeff Pinker, and Anders Thomas Jensen.
