Members of a Las Vegas jury convicted former mixed martial arts fighter War Machine of sexual assault and battery charges Monday but said they could not reach a unanimous verdict on two counts of attempted murder.

Jurors spent two days deliberating the charges against Koppenhaver, who broke into Mack's house on August 8, 2014 and attacked her and boyfriend Corey Thomas, leaving both with serious injuries.

War Machine, born Jon Koppenhaver, was found guilty on 29 of 34 charges, including sexual assault, kidnapping, batter, and coercion.

Koppenhaver could face life behind bars.

In closing arguments, Leiderman suggested that the jury never learned many things about the August 2014 attack at Mack's home, including Koppenhaver's state of mind, and therefore could not know if he meant to commit a crime.

In closing arguments, Leiderman characterized Koppenhaver as a "raging bull" with brain injuries from his fighting career and emotions inflamed by the use of steroids and non-prescription stimulant and antidepressant drugs that combined could have caused mood swings and violence that the defense attorney termed "roid rage".

The incident was triggered when the fighter caught Mack in bed with her male friend, Corey Thomas.

Mackinday, a former adult film star known as Christy Mack, testified over two days during the trial about a history of abuse suffered at War Machine's hands that eventually ended with the brutal assault almost three years ago.

The shocking photos of Mack with a broken nose, missing teeth, fractured eye socket, leg injuries and a lacerated liver stunned the MMA world.

Mack, 24, spent eight hours on the witness stand, sobbing as she described the regular beatings and rapes she received at Koppenhaver's hands in the months before the attack on her and Thomas.

"He nearly beat her to death and he threw a dog blanket on her as she was convulsing from a lacerated liver".

Koppenhaver was arrested a week later in the Los Angeles suburb of Simi Valley, and was returned to Nevada.

Prosecutors Jacqueline Bluth and Robert Stephens said they were happy with the verdict. The former "Ultimate Fighter" competitor could be sent to life without the possibility of parole as a result of the conviction.
