Car gets dragged along California freeway as driver waves for help

A nearby driver, Brian Steimke, shot a video of the incident.

He pulled out his phone and started recording the freaky sight as the driver reached his hand out and beeped his horn to try and alert the unaware truck driver.

There is nothing unusual about that until you look closer and can see the back of a vehicle stuck underneath the back end of a semi-truck that is still driving.

"I didn't know it", the truck driver responds, seemingly unaware that he had been in an accident and had been pulling a auto.

"What do you mean you didn't know it", Steimke says. He came upon a slower moving truck and went to move over a lane to pass the slower truck.

The truck driver comes to a halt shortly after, with passing motorists getting out to join Mr Steimke in assessing the damage.

The driver of the Nissan was not seriously injured, and was dragged less than a mile.

He approached the driver and asked why he didn't stop.

To which the driver said: 'I didn't know it'.

Alarming video shows a motorist left in a helpless, and terrifying, position after his vehicle became stuck on the back of a truck and trailer rig and was dragged along an Californian highway. CHP said that the man showed no signs of impairments and he was allowed to leave the scene.
