Cam Talbot made 33 saves for the Oilers.

After getting unlikely goals from defenceman Adam Larsson to win Game 1, another unexpected source of offence put the Oilers ahead 1:05 into the game.

One of Nashville's key strengths in Round 1, when they swept the Chicago Blackhawks, was Pekka Rinne, who earned two shutouts and allowed just three goals in that four-game series-good for a.976 save percentage. Anton Slepyshev got credit.

"I can already taste that delicious Anaheim craft beer", Mayor Iveson said. "I made some big saves early".

"We're ready to take on the Oilers", Mayor Tait said. You don't want to be down two games heading to Northern Alberta.

Defenceman Oscar Klefbom told reporters it's nice to have that lead, but the team can't let it go to their heads.

Edmonton coach Todd McLellan believes Draisaitl's role as a support player for McDavid should not reduce the attention Draisaitl deserves as one of the game's developing stars.

The Oilers clawed back to even the score at three with Connor McDavid burying the tying goal with an incredible power play effort.

James Neal and Ryan Ellis scored to give the Predators a 2-1 lead.

Anaheim drew to within 2-1 on Silfverberg's power-play goal, his fourth goal of the playoffs, at 15:34 of the second period.

"We thought about maybe bowling or something like that, but we'll make the decision on how our players feel", Carlyle said. "Two shutouts the last series against San Jose?" All of this while the Preds have scored at least three goals in five of their last six games.

Edmonton got two of those back in a two-minute span sandwiched after the first intermission. Perhaps that's why the Ducks' second straight loss at home barely caused a flicker of apparent concern in their calm dressing room.

Patrick Eaves and Jakob Silfverberg answered those twin Oilers strikes with bolts of their own only 83 seconds apart to forge a 3-3 tie, showing that the Ducks have plenty of resolve.

Nashville dominated puck possession for long stretches, putting this one away on a goal from Roman Josi after just such a shift - caused by a Blues turnover in the defensive end - late in the third period. The Edmonton goalie tried to block it away but inexplicably played it off the inside of the blocker. Larsson rushed the puck and as he was about to go behind the Anaheim net, he tossed the puck toward the front of the net. "They tip one, it goes off a guy and goes in".

Edmonton tied the game at 1 when Letestu scoring on a five-on-three power play at 6:22 of the middle period. It was the first two-goal game he has ever had.

The Ducks again played without two top defensemen.

Defenseman Kevin Bieksa sustained a lower-body injury in the second period of Game 1 and did not return. As Maroon was skating through the crease, the puck hit off of his upper body and ended up in the net.

Kerdiles was brought to Edmonton as an extra forward in case another had to be scratched due to illness or injury.

The Edmonton Oilers return home after stealing both games in Anaheim and the home crowd will be one of the loudest you'll see in the National Hockey League playoffs.
