Kershaw, Dodgers get best of Cueto

Rays 7, Indians 4: Corey Dickerson hit a three-run shot - his third homer in two days - and Alex Cobb controlled Cleveland over seven innings. Kershaw has been the starting pitcher in five of the seven victories and now has a 1.29 ERA in 20 games at AT&T Park (and 20 career victories overall against the Giants).

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Eventually, Johnny Cueto and Yasmani Grandal spoke civilly and worked out their differences as grown men: They each apologized before tension escalated. San Francisco beat him May 1, getting home runs from Buster Posey and Hunter Pence in a 4-3 win at Dodger Stadium. Grandal figured Cueto was throwing at his head in the third out of frustration and retaliation.

Grandal said "it caught me by surprise" and insists that wasn't the case at all in the Dodgers' 6-1 victory behind Clayton Kershaw on Wednesday, but rather just him trying to get ready to move "because I'm slow". "Let's not make it a bigger deal than it really is". It would also be the start of some drama between the two, as the two had words after Grandal got to second base.

Belt, who hit his eighth home run of the season leading off the fourth, singled to open the sixth, then advanced on a wild pitch before Crawford's single off Luis Avilan (0-1).

Eduardo Nunez hit his first home run of the year for the Giants' lone run in the ninth.

"Well it was a big win in NY and then we're able to win that marathon game against the Reds".

Grandal said he and Cueto settled matters when Cueto came to the plate in the bottom of the third.

"I'm not going to use that as an excuse but they were relaying signs", Cueto claimed through an interpreter after the game.

"He pitched himself out of some traffic", said Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts.

Clayton Kershaw took a share of the major league lead with his seventh win and earned career victory No. 20 against the rival Giants, helping the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers avoid a sweep by beating San Francisco 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

In joining Houston's Dallas Keuchel as the majors' only seven-game winners, Kershaw (7-2) allowed singles to Justin Ruggiano, Buster Posey and pinch-hitter Nick Hundley in his seven innings.

On Monday, the previously stout Brandon McCarthy finally slipped, allowing six runs in an 8-4 loss.

Kershaw allowed three hits and didn't walk a batter for the fourth time in 2017 as the Dodgers snapped their three-game skid and ended the Giants' season-best five-game winning streak. Bonds will join 48 other former Giants players recognized on the brick wall of AT&T Park along King Street.

Cole (2-4) struck out three, walked two and received an overdue dose of support when Josh Bell smacked a three-run homer in the sixth off Jacob Turner (2-2).

Cubs 7, Reds 5: Anthony Rizzo and Kyle Schwarber drove in two runs apiece, and Chicago handed Cincinnati its season-high fifth straight loss.

For Johnny Cueto, it was his first loss at home since August 30, 2016, against the Diamondbacks.

There was the defense, particularly rookie Christian Arroyo, who made a pair of stellar plays in his first start at second base.
