They are now expected to adopt the plan at meetings next Monday through Wednesday at Chicago, the league-owned television network reported. For a proposal to become an NFL rule, it has to get a "yes" vote from 24 of the league's 32 owners.

Should these changes be made? Right now, players have to make the opening 53-man roster before going on IR in order to remain eligible to return.

In 2012, the league began allowing each team to designate one player for return, meaning he could come back from injured reserve after eight weeks.

Teams will be allowed to bring a second player off injured reserve. Under the change, they both would have been able to return to the field.

The NFL is an ever evolving organization who has never been afraid to change the rules, even when it involves controversy. This is by far the best move for the NFL. That change required that each team have a possession (or have a chance to possess the ball) unless the team that has the ball first scores a touchdown on its initial possession. For the most part that hasn't happened in regards to the actual time. Throughout the 2016 regular season, the Steelers also wound up placing cornerback Senquez Golson (foot), tackle Ryan Harris (leg), center Cody Wallace (knee), linebacker Steven Johnson (ankle), wide receiver Markus Wheaton (shoulder) and safety Shamarko Thomas (concussion) on their Reserve/Injured list as well.

The NFL's overtime rules are expected to receive a major change in the form of how long the overtime period will last. Was last season just an abnormally?

If time expires in overtime of a regular season game, the contest ends in a tie. Based on past year six games would have ended in a tie.
