WH Pushes Back On Report Flynn Told Transition He Was Under Investigation

CBS News Paula Reid notes, however, that in the grand scheme of DOJ investigations, failing to register as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), is not as high a priority as many perceive it to be.

Saddled with steep legal bills, Flynn wanted to reconnect with old friends and talk about potential future business opportunities.

McGinley now works in the White House as Cabinet secretary and deputy assistant to the president.

Flynn hired a lawyer a few weeks later.

On November 8-the same day Trump was elected-Flynn published an op-ed in The Hill, championing improved relations between Turkey and America, and describing Gulen as a "shady Islamic Mullah".

Around the time of Flynn's call with McGahn, the FBI began investigating Flynn on a separate matter: phone conversations he had in late December with Sergey I. Kislyak, Russia's ambassador to the United States.

The question of what Pence knew and when first arose months earlier after reports surfaced that Flynn discussed sanctions with Russia's ambassador to Washington despite Pence's public claim to the contrary.

This is one of those stories that'll be dismissed as "FAKE NEWS!" and then, if Trump actually does re-appoint Flynn to something, the spin will change instantly to "Awesome!"

But Flynn's White House job became imperiled shortly after Justice Department lawyers began reading transcripts of recorded calls between Flynn and the Russian ambassador to the United States, Sergei Kislyak. "He likes him, he trusted him, he was comfortable with him", he said...
