LeGarrette Blount thinks Carson Wentz can be 'special'

While he seemingly loved being with the Patriots, he felt it was time for him to move on. "LeGarrette fumbled in the Super Bowl, and when you fumble in the Super Bowl, that was it with Bill - out the door".

So what gives? Why are the Patriots the Patriots? So, 170 would be a major drop-off for him, but coach Doug Pederson has already said since signing Blount that the offensive game plan won't change from 2016 when carries were split up among Eagles backs.

"The weight I need to be at", he said with a smile. (The Eagles) have a culture of their own.

And so is he, even if his weight isn't as big an issue as it is for other running backs.

"Tell Embiid, tell them boys, that I'll be at games", Blount told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show. But when you consider what Blount has done as a Patriot and the historic season that he just had in New England, it is odd that his departure hasn't met with more acrimony or fan apprehension.

Blount going to the Eagles will likely be to make him a power back that will compliment their shifty runners like Darren "Lighting Bug" Sproles. Having Tom Brady solves a lot of problems, but his salary cap number has often required creativity when filling in the skill position pieces around the quarterback. "He's a smart player, and when he's out there, he demands a lot of respect from any team you're playing against".

"He's a really talented player", Blount said. He has all the tools that are needed, and all the grind that is needed, and he has the mindset to maximize his ability if he just continues to work hard.

Venezuelan leader to Trump: "'Get your pig hands out of here"
A water canon sprays government protesters trying to reach the Interior Ministry, in Caracas, Venezuela , Thursday, May 18, 2017. But sanctions so far have stopped short of hitting the oil sector in Venezuela , which is a major US oil supplier.

Having a bell-cow back figures to help that process along.

While the Cowboys' offense remains deeper in talent than that of the Eagles, Howie Roseman and Joe Douglas added Blount, Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith, Donnel Pumphrey, Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson this offseason in an attempt to surround their franchise quarterback with more talent.

LeGarrette Blount was a man with options this off-season. So I want to be a part of that. I like the way they play ball.

Blount is used to winning but isn't anxious about being a Band-Aid in a rebuilding project.

The Patriots promptly claimed Blount off waivers, and his 2014 season provides an interesting test case: He gained 266 yards on 65 carries, 4.1 yards per carry, as a Steeler, 281 yards on 60 carries, 4.7 yards per carry, as a Patriot. It'll be fun watching Blount and Wentz play together. In fact, the only players heavier than him on the roster are linemen and tight ends.

On the day the Eagles introduced their newest addition, a running back that punched in an NFL-high 18 touchdowns last season, Tanguay joined Philly Sports Talk and did more than simply temper expectations.
