Sens' Alex Burrows sidelined by injury in Game 4

The Penguins announced Matt Murray will be the starting goalie for Friday night's crucial Game 4 against Ottawa in the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Finals. "This is the choice that we made for Game 4".

Head coach Mike Sullivan has not named the starter for Game 4, but the Penguins have much bigger issues to worry about.

The Sens were quick to disprove critics of the tiresome, bend-but-do not break trap system they have deployed to slow the Penguins with a goal 48 seconds into the game and three more in a span of 2:18 later in the first period after Mike Hoffman got the party started. Murray allowed just one goal on 20 shots and Sullivan decided to make the switch with Pittsburgh trailing Ottawa 2-1 in the best-of-seven affair. He's an incredible physical presence and talent on both ends of the ice, and he came through with the all-important third goal of game three to give the Preds a 2-1 win.

Ottawa posted a comprehensive 5-1 game-three win on Wednesday to take a 2-1 series lead against the Penguins. After Senators defenseman Marc Methot took a shot, the puck bounced off both MAF and Cole, before sliding into the net. Wednesday was a peak at what the Penguins now are if they don't get elite goaltending every night. "We just want to be more prepared and I think we're going to be more prepared this time". "We'll see how it goes". The Pens made Vezina trophy finalists Sergei Bobrovsky and Braden Holtby look average at best in the first two rounds of these playoffs, but haven't been able to figure out Anderson. They're competitors. I understand.

Last season, in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final, Murray had a mediocre outing after being only so-so through the first three games against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

"I have no expectations", Murray said. I think he will continue to play well at home and should lead Ottawa to another victory. "We try to make the best decisions that we think give our team the best chance to win, and we go from there".

"I just think we've got to be more ready to play from the drop of the puck", said Sullivan. He nearly completely shut down the Blue Jackets' attack in three of five contests, he absolutely flustered the Capitals' offense, stealing at least two games in the second round, and, heading into Wednesday, had only failed to stop two of the Senators' 58 shots.

Then in Game 5, the Senators found themselves in a similar position, down a goal in the final minutes. "It was nice to get off to a good start and get the crowd into it".

All the sudden, the league's No. 1 offense has been reduced to just three goals in the last three games.

The Senators only generated 29 shot attempts and 18 shots on goal at 5-on-5 in this game, while the Penguins surpassed them with 47 shot attempts and 25 shots on goal.

The total has gone over in only two of the Penguins' last 10 home games in the month of May.

He wouldn't elaborate on what went into the decision, nor would he reveal what was said during his conversation with Fleury. Streit appeared for the first time in the playoffs. Jake Guentzel leads Pittsburgh with nine goals, Evgeni Malkin has 14 assists and Phil Kessel has 45 shots on goal.

The Penguins were also without winger Bryan Rust, who suffered an undisclosed injury in Monday's 1-0 victory.
