Hull go into their final match in the Premier League this season without the much sought-after Harry Maguire due to injury.

Although Silva found it hard to turn Hull's away form around, six wins in seven home league games gave the club a hope of survival until defeats in their last two games assured relegation back to the Championship.

These claims became even stronger on Wednesday, when Walter Mazzarri was sacked by the Hornets, and several English newspapers started mentioning Silva's name as the number one target for replacement.

Silva, whose side conclude the season at home to Tottenham on Sunday, now plans to meet City chairman Assem Allam next week before an announcement is made.

"Of course the club want to keep me and now it is not just whether I want [to stay] or not - I need to analyse other things".

"We need to look for the future of the club".

Yet Silva also suggested "I met with the owners this week and they showed they have an interest in keeping me and my staff at the club".

But Silva has earned praise for coming so close to guiding the Tigers to safety after they looked to be a lost cause when he replaced Mike Phelan in January.

"It is disappointing that we didn't achieve our goal (of staying up)". What they give to us is wonderful. "First, because Hull City deserve all my respect".

Marco Silva will hold talks with Hull City next week before announcing whether or not he will continue as head coach.

"Next Sunday we will play our last game of the season in our stadium in front of our fans".

Silva remains focused on trying to give Hull fans something to cheer about as he attempts to finish the campaign on a high, although second-placed Spurs will provide a stern test.
