Cohen, Trump's outspoken personal lawyer, acknowledged Tuesday that he is resisting a request from congressional investigators seeking information from him about possible contacts with Russian Federation.

The subpoenas require both Flynn and Cohen to testify before the committee, as well as turn over personal documents and business records. "We will continue to pursue this investigation wherever the facts may lead", Rep. K. Michael Conaway (R-Texas), the committee chairman, and Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Burbank), the ranking member, said in a statement.

The source said that all the documents from the two subpoenas to the businesses will be provided.

The committee is one of several probes into alleged meddling by Moscow in last year's presidential election, and any collusion with the Trump campaign. A former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency who left the Pentagon at odds with Obama, he was brought into the Trump team not long after returning from a trip to Russia on behalf of the Russian channel RT.

Flynn, who was forced to resign in February after revelations that he misled administration officials about his contacts with Russia's ambassador, had been under threat of a contempt citation after turning down the panel's request for documents and an interview.

Flynn, who was forced out of the administration after misleading Trump officials about the scope of meetings he had with Russia's US ambassador, is being pressed for more information by congressional investigators. "The Fifth Amendment right not to provide materials or documents is limited", he said last week.

Among the payments was more than $33,000 Mr Flynn received from RT, the Russian state-sponsored television network that USA intelligence officials have branded as a propaganda arm of the Kremlin.

Earlier this month, a New York Times report emerged that Mr. Trump's aides knew Flynn was under investigation well before the president's inauguration.

The other, Flynn Intel Group LLC, was used to accept money from Mr Flynn's paid speeches.

Ms. Power hasn't previously been reported as a potential witness in the probe so her inclusion in the subpoenas may mean Republicans are broadening their areas of investigation.

The House and Senate Intelligence Committees continue to press ahead in their investigations, even as a newly-appointed independent special counsel takes over the Justice Department and FBI investigations into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

The report said Comey could testify as early as next week.
