Cavaliers remain winless in NBA Finals games coached by Mike Brown

They were in precisely the same spot a year ago, split two games in Cleveland, then collapsed in the final three. Even with the win, the Warriors have had a better record with substitutes Luke Walton and Mike Brown at the helm (50-4) than with Kerr coaching the team (119-29) since the start of the 2015-16 season.

"I don't want to get into the "What we need to do better" right now", said James, who spoke in the locker room shortly after the game instead of making his customary trip to the interview room.

"I thought for the most part with the game plan that we had we tried to execute it as close as possible", James said.

"I'm not it's for us to debate", Curry said.

This time, Curry committed eight turnovers as Cleveland committed to putting more pressure on the ball to keep Durant from driving and dunking untouched as he did so many times in Game 1.

LeBron James has been brilliant in the first two games of the NBA Finals, which still have been lopsided losses for his Cleveland Cavaliers.

News that the pain and headaches that kept the coach away from the team for the first 43 games of last season had returned in April shocked fans in the Bay Area, where Kerr is a beloved figure.

James had a triple-double in the loss, with 29 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds.

The Cavaliers won four of the next five games, improbably erasing a 3-1 series deficit in the NBA Finals to bring the city of Cleveland its first pro sports championship in more than 50 years.

With head coach Steve Kerr on the sidelines for the first time since the opening round of the playoffs after overcoming back problems, Curry and Durant gave the boss plenty to smile about as the Warriors improved their flawless record in the postseason to 14-0.

Curry and Thompson, who finished with 22 points, also connected on four 3-pointers apiece for Golden State, which shot 51.7 percent overall.

Of course, this Warriors team isn't the same as last year's.

Durant was dominant once again after a great performance in the first game of the series.

"I'm not a past guy too much", James said. Other than that, when you got somebody doing you like that, it's just like a burning fire in their eye and you know you don't stand a chance.

"I'm just seeing a lot of bodies", Irving said.

Kevin Love provided a needed scoring boost in Game 2 after Kyrie Irving did the same in Game 1 but nearly no one else came through, sending the Cavs to a 132-113 loss and a 0-2 series deficit.

It didn't matter in the end.

The Cavs were relentless offensively in the first half with LeBron James getting to the basket whenever he wanted, but for the second straight game Stephen Curry heated up in the third quarter - this time scoring 12 in the frame - to put the game out of reach. Curry's 10 first-quarter free throws equaled Paul Pierce for most in a Finals quarter.
