Sexual assault trial underway for Bill Cosby

Cosby, once known as "America's dad" for his role as Heathcliff Huxtable on the 1980s hit TV series "The Cosby Show", walked into court on the arm of Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played his youngest daughter, the pigtailed Rudy Huxtable. He faces three counts of aggravated indecent assault.

In 2004 Ms Constand was 31 when she visited Cosby's home seeking career advice after befriending him through Temple University in Philadelphia, where he served on the board of trustees.

Cosby later took to Twitter to share a photo with Pulliam and thank her for her support.

"Trust, betrayal, and the inability to consent". In 2006, after the district attorney declined to press charges, Cosby settled a civil suit with Constand for an undisclosed amount of money. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. But phone records, he said, show the two talked 72 times that year, with 53 of those calls initiated by Constand.

Prosecutors will also introduce a second accuser who will claim she was drugged and assaulted. Previously, the court identified her only as "Kacey", but she testified openly on Monday.

Gloria Allred, who represents some of the accusers, was in the courtroom for the beginning of the trial. "At a certain point, he invited her over to discuss her career". "His words, his voice that we know so well as he approached Andrea Constand with pills in his hand". "She was never incapacitated". She told him she was "drained" and had been missing sleep, according to a criminal complaint.

Unfortunately, we won't get to hear the comedian's response to this story.

The testimony was introduced by prosecutors to show that Cosby had a "pattern" in his assaults.

She is expected to take the stand later this week as the prosecution's star witness, and the outcome of the trial will hinge on her credibility.

"They felt rubbery and like jelly", she alleged.

Feden says there is no better window into Cosby's motives and methods than his own words. He also said Johnson had a six-year relationship with Cosby despite a company ban on dating clients.

"Ultimately, I wasn't there", Pulliam told E! of the allegations.

"I want to be the person that I would like to have if the tables were turned", she said.

When she woke up, Johnson testified, she was on a bed with her dress pulled up from the bottom and pulled down from the top, exposing her breasts.

Johnson said she had no more phone contact with Cosby after the incident.

Kelly Johnson wiped back tears Monday as she described the 1996 encounter. And so, I continue and I go into the area that is somewhere between permission and rejection.

Johnson later gave deposition about the interactions with Cosby in a workers' compensation claim about the incident at the hotel.

On cross-examination, McMonagle sharply questioned Johnson's memory of the timeline of events. She's messing up her work.

McMonagle urged jurors to use their common sense when weighing the evidence in the case.

Cosby's defense team lectured the jury on the high burden of proof and warned them not to get distracted by his fame or by "finger-pointing".

Prosecutors had wanted to call as many as 13 of Cosby's more than 60 accusers as witnesses, but judge Steven O'Neill ruled only Ms Constand and the other woman can take the stand.

It was the unsealing of that deposition in 2015 that prompted prosecutors to reopen the Constand criminal investigation, more than a decade after it was first closed.

The defense lawyer slammed Constand's version of events, calling her story "inconsistent" and telling jurors that Cosby admitted they were having an affair in a call to her mother.

Both attorneys spoke for about 45 minutes each. She brought him gifts. They become larger than life ... we feel that we know them, who they are.

In one encounter, she testified, she went to his Los Angeles bungalow for acting lessons, and he greeted her in a bathrobe.

In 2015, Knight Pulliam told Access Hollywood that Cosby deserves a fair trial.

"There are not a lot of facts here that are in dispute", Feden said. Constand was employed at Temple University, Cosby's alma mater.

In one of the more explosive revelations, Cosby said he had gotten quaaludes in the 1970s to give women before sex.

Cosby later told police that the pills were over-the-counter Benadryl.
