Prosecutors hope her testimony will show that Cosby had a pattern of assaulting women after befriending them.

Constand, 44, took the stand Tuesday and in a quivering voice described how the famed funnyman fed her three blue pills to help her relax at his suburban Philadelphia mansion.

Before Tuesday, Andrea Constand had never uttered a word in public about the incident that brought her to a Norristown, Pennsylvania, courtroom this week: a sexual encounter with Bill Cosby in 2004 that she calls assault and he says was consensual. "I began to slur my words and I told Mr. Cosby that I had trouble seeing him and I was seeing two of him", she recalled.

Andrea Constand claims Bill Cosby drugged and assaulted her in 2004 while she was working for Temple University's women's basketball team.

Shortly thereafter, Constand said, she became dizzy and was feeling disoriented.

Cosby, who turns 80 in July and is reportedly legally blind, appeared to listen attentively to Constand's testimony, occasionally consulted with his lawyers but did not show any outward reaction. Under a settlement Constand and Cosby reached in 2006, Constand was prohibited from speaking publicly about her accusation.

It was January 2004 and she was discussing a possible career change with Cosby, who had been mentoring her.

More than 50 women have said that Cosby assaulted them, but the statute of limitations has run out in almost all cases.

Constand's complaint is the only one that has come to trial. Andrea Constand walks to the courtroom during Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pa., Tuesday, June 6, 2017. He invited her to dine with him at his home.

"He was a Temple friend, somebody I trusted, a mentor and somewhat of an older figure to me", Constand testified. And she said she was really concerned. She also said he had tried to undo her trousers on another occasion, and she'd told him, "I don't want that". "I don't want that". "Mr. Cosby stood up and I stood up, 'cause he said, 'You probably need to relax.' And when I stood up, my legs were not strong and I began to panic a little bit".

Earlier in the day, Constand bravely testified that Cosby - who'd been mentoring her at the time - plied her with an unknown drug and made her touch his penis while she was passed out. And she just added a lot more detail. Both were between Constand and representatives of Cosby who were calling her after the incident. Also in the works: Testimony from a toxicologist, and more recordings - this time, from Cosby himself, as he testified during the civil lawsuit he and Constand later settled. Allyn reports that the woman was subjected to a tough cross-examination by Cosby's attorney, who attempted to show that her memory was incorrect. The prior day, prosecutors and defense attorneys for Cosby gave opening statements and one witness, a woman named Kelly Johnson, testified. She said she lost consciousness soon after Cosby pressured her to take a large white pill. "I felt Mr. Cosby's hand groping my breasts under my shirt".

Judge Steven T O'Neill has overruled several attempts by Cosby's attorneys to ask Johnson, her mother, and Miller about Johnson's drug use and her relationships with other William Morris clients.

A few weeks later, Sewell said, Johnson disclosed that she had woken up next to Cosby in bed with her clothes askew.

Sewell told the court that Johnson's father, formerly a detective with the Los Angeles Police Department, recommended she stay silent to avoid the "shame and embarrassment" he'd seen others experience when reporting sexual assault allegations to authorities, according to CNN. I just want to know what you gave me.' " After a while, she decided he wasn't going to give her an answer and left. He said Johnson made the disclosure while pursuing a claim that she had developed debilitating stress from her secretarial job at the William Morris Agency.

Under cross-examination from McMonagle, Miller acknowledged that his notes reflected Johnson saying that the Bel Air Hotel incident occurred in 1990 - and not, as she testified yesterday, in 1996.
