Qatar row: Trump calls for 'unity' in Gulf

That announcement came hours after President Trump took credit for Saudi Arabia's decision to cut diplomatic ties with the Persian Gulf neighbor.

The US media outlets who are opposed to President Trump and his idea of getting along diplomatically with Russian Federation are pushing a narrative that Russian Federation was responsible for the crisis in the Middle East.

The council includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait.

Qatar strongly denies supporting radical Islamism.

Trump's tweets might also put increasing pressure on Qatar to implement reforms or even the replacement of the current emir.

He later tweeted: "Perhaps this will be the beginning of the end to the horror of terrorism!"

Analysts have said Qatar Airways will lose millions of dollars in revenue from flight cancellations caused by the scrapping of its license by Saudi Arabia.

"Whatever has been thrown as an accusation is all based on misinformation and we think that the entire crisis being based on misinformation", Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani told CNN.

USA officials believe the crisis may have been prompted by Russian hackers, accusing them of breaching Qatar's state news agency and planting a fake news report, according to CNN.

Meanwhile, Turkey's parliament approved sending troops to an existing Turkish base in Qatar as a sign of support. Qatar has previously said it would "not surrender" to outside influences on its foreign policies.

"There's proof that Qatar is combatting terrorism".

He appeared to take a more measured tone during a call with Saudi Arabia's King Salman.

President Donald Trump injected the United States into a volatile crisis among America's Mideast allies, siding today with Saudi Arabia and other countries against Qatar in a dispute that threatens to disrupt efforts to defeat the Islamic State group and counter Iran.

"The two leaders discussed the critical goals of preventing the financing of terrorist organisations and eliminating the promotion of extremism by any nation in the region". Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have revoked the licences of Qatar Airways and ordered its offices to close.

But the Saudi-led action was already having tangible effects, with dozens of flights cancelled, Qatari planes barred from regional airspace, and panic buying in Doha amid fears of food shortages.

Jubeir declined to confirm a list of 10 demands published by Al Jazeera, which included shutting down the widely watched, Doha-based satellite network, but added that Qatar knew what it needed to do to restore normal relations.

Several Middle Eastern countries have cut their ties with Qatar due to its alleged support of terrorism - but the information which prompted the clash may have been fake and planted by Russian hackers.

Egypt's Foreign Ministry accused Qatar of taking an "antagonist approach" toward Cairo and said "all attempts to stop it from supporting terrorist groups failed".

French President Emmanuel Macron said he was ready to back "all initiatives to encourage calm".
