Amazon is debuting a new way for cable providers and media streaming companies to bring its popular voice assistant Alexa to their services. Alexa will know which video devices and services to which you're subscribed, and instantly fulfill your request.

Outside developers can use that software to create their own Alexa skills that'll let you control their content using simple, standardized voice commands.

Customers will also be able to open a video streaming app then "use their Amazon Echo or other Alexa device to issue commands like 'Alexa, find comedies, ' 'Alexa, tune to HBO, ' or 'Alexa, play episodes of Modern Family,'" Isbitski added.
