Police Fatally Shoot Homicide Suspect In Lyons

The lone suspect in an afternoon homicide in Sycamore is killed by police following a shootout with officers in the Chicago suburb of Lyons.

Illinois State Police (ISP) officials are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred at approximately 5:54 p.m. on June 9, 2017.

State police investigators were assisting the Sycamore Police Department in a homicide investigation when they located the suspect's vehicle in the area, state police said.

Police stopped a vehicle and tried to arrest a suspect who witnesses say pulled a gun.

Multiple officers from several police agencies returned fire, the source said.

Officers were from Lyons, Riverside, North Riverside, Stickney, Brookfield, McCook, Bedford Park and the Dept of Homeland Security responded. No further information will be released at this time.

Yellow evidence markers littered the street between a Lyons police cruiser with its trunk open and what appeared to be the suspect vehicle.

Both shootings remained under investigation Friday night. His identity was not released pending notification of family.
