Celtics to trade No. 1 Pick to 76ers

But as the details began to spill out as to what the Celtics were getting for the top overall pick - the No. 3 selection in Thursday's draft and either a future first-round pick in 2018 (it's 2-5 protected) from Los Angeles Lakers or a 2019 pick from the Sacramento Kings - was a bit underwhelming. The Celtics will receive additional picks in the deal, sources told ESPN - a 2018 first-rounder that the 76ers acquired in a previous trade, and another future first-rounder. While the majority of the Celtics' offseason previously revolved around former Washington guard Markelle Fultz, Boston must now turn their attention toward another crop of players, as the former Huskies standout is nearly certainly coming off the board at No. 1 overall. Simmons was the first No. 1 pick for the Sixers since Hall of Famer Allen Iverson in 1996 and he missed the season as Philadelphia improved its win total to 28.

Fultz — donning a Philadelphia cap as he arrived at the team's practice facility — visited the 76ers in a hastily arranged get-to-know-you session, with the workout and meeting with team officials on his itinerary.

For the Philadelphia 76ers, the reason for the trade is clear - they wanted Washington guard Markelle Fultz.

"I had some stuff going on with my knee - I don't really want to address it", Fultz said.

This gives the Celtics a wealth of riches with which to acquire a superstar to pair with Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford.

In the 31 games Embiid played, he made this team a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side of the basketball.

Barely three years later, he's nearly certainly going to become the No. 1 pick. Fultz certainly isn't on the LeBron or even Karl Towns tier of top overall picks, but I do think his performance makes him worthy of the designation. They will play the 76ers four times as a team in Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. "The upside of it would be insane". He showed up in a black Sixers hat after making the 140-mile drive on Interstate 95 from his family's home in Maryland for the workout site. "This city has great fans".

Trump wants 'expedited hearing' on 'watered down travel ban'
The administration said the travel ban was needed so it could evaluate existing screening protocols and set new ones. President Trump has previously used the phrase "watered down" to describe his revised executive order.

Trump Confidant: Ruddy Hurt Trump's Ability To Fire Mueller
A spokesman for Kasowitz declined to comment. "I think he's weighing that option". "Look who he is hiring". Ruddy visited the White House Monday, but administration officials noted he didn't speak with Trump .

The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.2 blocks last season.

In the past 10 seasons, only two other freshmen had a better scoring average in college: Kevin Durant for Texas in 2006 to 2007, and Michael Beasley for Kansas State in 2007 to 2008.

In this case, Ainge can ill afford to be incorrect: Passing on Fultz in favor of keeping Smart, Rozier or perhaps even Thomas won't look very good if Fultz reaches some of the ceilings projected onto him before the draft. The Sixers now own the rights to both of those picks.

As expected, Celtics fans were not happy. There is nothing worse than hoping that your prospect falls to you in the draft and with the likelihood that both Fultz and Lonzo Ball would be off the board when the Philadelphia 76ers picked at number three, this had to be done.

With this swap, Ainge has managed to keep the Celtics in the lottery, add to his collection of picks, and keep the flexibility of either taking a player with the No. 3 pick, or put together a package for a star who might become available on draft night or over the next few seasons.

Philadelphia went 28-54 this past season, after winning 19, 18 and 10 games in the previous three. Like I said, a dream I always had. "He's a cool guy". At the time it was just speculation, but after discussions reportedly heated up this week, it looks like the deal may be actually happening. "It was what's best for me as a player (to sit out)".
