Cosby faces three counts of aggravated indecent assault. A judge recently denied Cosby's motion to dismiss the case, and a trial has been scheduled for June 2018.

A Pennsylvania jury may have given Bill Cosby a legal win by deadlocking at his sexual-assault trial last week, but the comedian once known as America's Dad couldn't have spent his Father's Day relaxing.

"Bill Cosby's trial is about much more than Bill Cosby", said the comedian and writer Lena Dunham on...

In its final statements, the prosecution repeatedly referred to a deposition in a 2005 civil case filed by Constand, in which Cosby testified that he had touched Constand beneath her clothes after giving her pills. And a federal judge dismissed a ninth accuser's case, finding her complaint inadequate. He also found success with his "Fat Albert" animated TV show and starred in commercials for Jell-O pudding.

Under questioning from her lawyer, Cosby acknowledged that he had obtained several prescriptions for quaaludes in the 1970s for the goal of offering the powerful sedative to women he wanted to have sex with. Cosby said in that decade-old testimony that he had given Constand a non-prescription allergy medication, Benadryl, to relax her because she said she was stressed. Judge Steven O'Neill advised jurors when the trial ended on Saturday outside Philadelphia, after a week of testimony and 52 hours of deliberations, that they need not discuss the case, even as the public debates whether age, race, gender or other issues separated them. O'Neill instructed them to keep working toward a unanimous decision.

"It can never be clearer that if you speak up, you could be chilling the justice system in the future if jurors are needed in this case", O'Neill told them.

He reminded prosecutors and the defense that "a mistrial is neither vindication nor victory for anybody".

Former federal prosecutor David Weinstein said Cosby's celebrity nearly certainly played a role in the jury's deliberations, perhaps to convince "two or three jurors that it's impossible to convict Dr. Huxtable, to convict Fat Albert ... that he couldn't have done this awful thing".

Cosby was eventually charged in December 2015, just days before the statute of limitations was set to expire.

This prompted prosecutors to reopen the case. Several of them attended the criminal trial with their layers.

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand has done.
