India captain Virat Kohli was brutally honest in assessing his team's below-par performance in a chastening 180-run loss to arch-rivals Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final overnight. While Fakhar Zaman starred with the bat, Mohammad Amir played a big role as he dismissed Rohit Sharma, Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan to help Pakistan complete a big win.

Pakistan have managed to bounce back in the tournament, trouncing South Africa and Sri Lanka in the group stages and England in the semi-finals to book a berth in the final.

Not many treat an India vs Pakistan match as a game, it's more like war where you can't lose.

The consulate general posted a video in which Ambassador David Hale and US Embassy Islamabad wished Pakistan Cricket Team all the best for Champions Trophy 2017. According to data by BARC cited in an Economic Times report, the Champions Trophy one day global (ODI) match played between India and Pakistan on June 4, reached over 20 crore people. "We tried our best to make them hit in areas, which we felt would be uncomfortable, but then there are things, which are not under your control", Kohli added.

This was Pakistan's maiden victory in the International Cricket Council Champions Trophy, one of the major global cricket tournaments conducted by the ICC. "My theory is: batsmen win you games, bowlers win you tournaments".

It was Pakistan's first global 50-over title since the 1992 World Cup and a sweet moment for a team who have been unable to host worldwide cricket in recent years due to security concerns.

"They are ranked higher than us - so everyone is talking about India, India".

India then lost two wickets for no runs in four balls to be 54 for five inside 14 overs.

Fakhar overcame his early wobbles to share a century opening partnership with Azhar Ali (59) and unfurl a series of increasingly assured strokes among his 12 fours and two sixes in a 92-ball century.

Hardik Pandya smashed 76 off 43 balls, including six huge sixes, to give India hope of a dramatic revival but he was run out following a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja and left the arena shaking his head in an obvious state of frustration. It's just another game of cricket tomorrow, and whatever the result, we have to go forward and play more games after that.

He was eventually out when he sliced medium-pacer Pandya to Jadeja, running back from point.
