The tweet in question was the last of four tweets Trump sent out about the investigation.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, on Sunday said he had "no idea" what Trump was trying to do with a tweet that appeared to confirm he is personally under federal investigation.

On CNN, Sekulow said it was a response to an article in the Washington Post alleging Trump was under investigation for obstruction of justice. He says the Trump tweet was specifically directed at a story in The Washington Post about the expanding probe into Russia's election meddling.

"Let me be clear here", said Jay Sekulow, a member of the president's legal team, on NBC's "Meet The Press". "CNN had not confirmed the Washington Post report, but then Trump came out and said quote 'I am being investigated.' The confusion-Is this not frustrating for you as an attorney to have a client that is sharing information with the world that is not accurate?"

He also said he has "every problem" with Mueller's investigation, and finds the special counsel's public friendship with fired FBI Director James Comey "weird".

If Trump would seriously consider firing Sessions, it stands to reason that he would dispose of Comey. So that - nothing has changed in that regard since James Comey's testimony.

Leary III pointed that out - and also defined what the jury's legal standard should be to convict Yanez of the individual charges. Prosecutors earlier argued Yenez never saw Castile with a gun, and had plenty of options that did not involve shooting Castile.

The Post report from Wednesday claimed that Mueller was talking to senior intelligence officials to suss out whether Trump committed obstruction of justice.

"So the president said "I am under investigation" even though he's isn't under investigation?" "Witch Hunt." The message apparently referred to Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general whose role leading the federal investigation has become increasingly complicated.

President Donald Trump is beginning his day with a stream of tweets defending his record and lashing out at the investigation into Russian interference in the election.

On Thursday, Trump called Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 campaign a "witch hunt: based on the "phony" premise of possible collusion between Russia and a cadre of Trump campaign associates".

It was reported this week the president is increasingly angry over the investigation, with advisers and confidants saying Trump frequently yells at television sets in the White House carrying coverage.
