Quantum entanglement is the phenomenon by which subatomic particles can be linked to one another across any distance.

The satellite comprises a quantum-enabled transmitter that splits photons and a single packet of light into two entangled photos.

Stevens set the previous distance record for entangled particles in 2015 with a 65-mile-long optical fiber.

Jian-Wei Pan, who led the research at the University of Science and Technology in Hefei in China, said the demonstration was a moment he had been dreaming of since 2003. The photons were then beamed to the ground stations located in Nanshan, Delighha, and Lijiang.

Using light to keep data safe Today, text messages, banking transactions and health information are all encrypted with techniques based on mathematical algorithms.

Martin Stevens, a physicist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder, Colorado, said he was impressed with the work. "Doing them between two remote ground locations and a satellite flying overhead at a speed of thousands of kilometers per hour is mind-bogglingly hard". "It will be beneficial for all human beings".

N541bn Debt: Banks Reject Etisalat Nigeria's Loan Restructuring Plan
Access Bank alongside a consortium of banks has now taken over the management of telecommunication company, Etisalat Nigeria . The banks were said to have opposed a proposal by Etisalat to convert part of a $1.2 billion loan from dollars to naira.

NSA Contractor From South Texas Accused of Leaking Russia Intelligence Report
Her expertise was translating languages spoken in Afghanistan, her family said, and she served six years in the U.S. Some New Yorkers staged a show of support tonight for the woman accused of leaking classified information.

OIC 'condemns use of force' by Indian forces in Kashmir: Pak
Insha, who had become the face of the security forces' atrocities during last year's unrest, added joyously: "Pakistan are winning and people are celebrating".

Another technique called quantum cryptography can identify the online intruder on the network which can modify the entangled photons. This will help in the development of a new type of internet that would be far more secure than the present one.

China insists its space program is for peaceful purposes, but the U.S. Defense Department has highlighted its increasing space capabilities, saying it was pursuing activities aimed at preventing adversaries from using space-based assets in a crisis. What makes this stranger is that this link works regardless of distance.

"It is a first step - and an important step - for creating a truly global quantum network". The signal tends to diminish when sent by wire, whereas a signal traveling through space can go much further without losing strength.

Zeilinger is working with Pan on an intercontinental quantum network and hopes to have results to report before the end of the year.

How is this practical in any way for future end to end encryption. Thus, the researchers chose to see if it was possible to measure quantum states encoded in a laser beam sent from one of the satellites already in space. It should also contain the key that will allow the other person to encrypt the decrypted data. These messages are encrypted using quantum mechanics, so this is why they are so hard to decode.

Einstein was right when he did not agree with the EPR experiment conclusions and had said, "spooky action at a distance" can not occur and that, "God does not play dice".
