James T. Hodgkinson, was killed by police after the Wednesday shooting rampage. The injuries had put the majority whip at an "imminent risk of death", said Jack Sava, director of trauma care for MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Scalise was sedated Friday, but the husband and father of two has been able to respond to his doctors and family. "He is more responsive and is speaking to his loved ones".
