Paris accord could still survive United States exit

The mayor of the City of Allentown and presidents of Lehigh University and Moravian College have joined the growing list of leaders across the country who are promising to uphold the landmark climate accord that President Donald Trump has chose to withdraw from. The president defended the move by saying it was a bad deal for American workers and was something poorly negotiated by former President Barack Obama. It also wants to accelerate the transition to clean, renewable energy.

It is imperative that the world know that in the USA, the actors that will provide the leadership necessary to meet our Paris commitment are found in city halls, state capitals, colleges and universities, investors and businesses.

Trump has faced intense criticism since deciding to pull the U.S. out of the Paris agreement, joining only two other countries who aren't signatories - Syria and Nicaragua.

Communist Party leaders pledged that greenhouse gas emissions will peak no later than 2030 under the Paris pact, and start to fall after then.

Like other African countries, South Africa's response to its United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) commitments are not directly influenced by the departure of the U.S., Chademana said.

Since we being inhabitants of planet Earth have got only this planet to survive on, and are stewards of environment and everything in its dominion, it's our responsibility to forward a balanced, healthy environment to future generations.
