Secretary Ben Carson Breaks Rank On The Russia Investigation

The president wrote on Twitter Friday: "I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! The president is not a subject or target of investigation", said Trump legal team member, Jay Sekulow, in an interview.

The New York Times first reported that Kushner was weighing other legal options. The "man who told me" seemed to be Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who supported the firing and assigned Robert Mueller as special counsel in the probe of matters involving Russian Federation.

TRUMP: When Trump wants to say more on a subject than one tweet's 140-character content limit allows, he simply does what other Twitter users do: He writes more tweets about it.

Sekulow joined Trump's personal legal team, which includes Marc Kasowitz, Trump's go-to lawyer for years on both personal and business matters; Mark Bowe, who works with Kasowitz; and newly hired John Dowd, a well-known DC-based attorney.

It would defy logic to suggest that probers are not at least looking at, examining, discussing or reviewing the famous Trump meeting with since-fired FBI Director James Comey. He says there should at least be tapes of any telephone conversations between the president and Comey. We already know Comey and Mueller have been attached at the hip since 9/11, famously standing stalwart against the G.W. Bush administration in the name of justice, mismanaging cases together, and acting as the strong arm of then Attorney General Loretta Lynch, doing her Clinton bidding.

"He's being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and deputy attorney general recommended him to take by the agency who recommended the termination", Sekulow concluded. What journalists focused on like a laser on was the first four words of the president's tweet: "I am being investigated".

James Comey, who was sacked on May 9, told a Senate panel last week he believed the POTUS dismissed him to undermine the bureau's ongoing investigation.

Special counsel Robert Mueller and his widening investigation seems to be closing in on Donald Trump and his coterie of corruption, but Donald Trump and his emissaries aren't sitting idly by.

"Now, my sources are telling me he's begun some preliminary planning", Pierre Thomas, the ABC News senior justice correspondent, said of Mueller on ABC's "This Week".

Comey also told the Senate that he intentionally leaked his contemporaneous memos detailing his conversations with Trump in order to prompt the appointment of a special counsel. Trump said previously that a memo from Rosenstein recommending the Federal Bureau of Investigation director's termination didn't matter.

As the Russian Federation investigation continues, Kushner's allies have reportedly raised questions about the relationship between Gorelick and Mueller. Why would the president object to a thorough investigation - unless he had something to hide?

A few minutes before that tweet, Trump spoke about the witch hunt, saying "Despite the phony Witch Hunt going on in America, the economic & jobs numbers are great".

Except ... Trump has now deleted that tweet.

Clearly, Trump is exasperated over what he sees as much ado about nothing. At that time, defense lawyers often will ask about their clients' status. His spokesman Peter Carr told the publication the Special Counsel's Office has undertaken stringent controls to prohibit unauthorized disclosures and will deal severely with any member who engages in this conduct.
