AFL Players Association president Matthew Pavlich said Tuesday's announcement was "a fantastic outcome and something that we were steadfast on achieving".

According to reports the, the AFL and AFLPA has ended its pay dispute, with a suspected six-year, $1.84 billion dollar signed off on.

The salary cap increases from $10.37 million a club to $12.4 million.

The changes will see the average player salary increase from $309,000 previous year to $371,000 this season.

It's understood between 27 and 28 per cent of league revenue will flow to the players, including an extra 28 per cent of unbudgeted club revenues through a mechanism yet to be publicly detailed by AFL Players Association chief Paul Marsh or AFL chief Gillon McLachlan.

"While it took a bit longer, the players had the security of having contracts in place this year and I think we had some genuine complex issues that we worked through. The AFL Players' Association is committed to working with the AFL, AFL clubs, players and other football stakeholders to drive growth and strengthen the AFL industry's position as the most successful professional sport in Australia".

In other words, life is looking pretty great right now if you're an AFL player.

The deal excludes money made from the AFLW, non-football revenue, government grants and donations.

"AFL players play the toughest, fastest and most spectacular game in the world and they deserve to be genuine partners in the success of the game and well rewarded for that".

President Donald Trump says that wounded Congressman Steve Scalise's condition is more hard than people first realized. They sat next to each other at the game above the first-base dugout, as a show of friendship across the aisle.

"It probably is a credit to the professionalism of the AFL and the AFLPA that we did as much as we could behind closed doors and got to an outcome now that the players are very happy with, that the AFL is happy with and we're happy with". There are also improved welfare and injury provisions.

As cricket's pay crisis nears tipping point, the wages of an AFL player will skyrocket $60,000 this year in a bumper six-year deal.

"Players current, past and the future all stand to benefit from this deal".

When this happens, just remember from next year $600,000 will be the new $500,000, $900,000 the new $750,000 and $1.2 million the new $1 million.

Patrick Dangerfield, one of AFL's superstars, had previously said players would have been prepared to strike as a last resort if a deal was not reached.

Western Australian clubs have also had a win with 12 business class tickets being made available for interstate games.

It means that excluding rookies, the average AFL player wage jumps from $309,000 a year ago to $371,000.

For a club like Sydney, which is widely considered to have one of the competition's tightest salary caps, this additional cap space could prove the buffer that allows it to re-sign both restricted free agent Sam Reid and emerging defender Zak Jones.
