Teen superstar Charice re-introduces himself as a transgender male named Jake

Over the weekend, the singer, who gained worldwide recognition for as Charice for her belting prowess, changed his Instagram handle to Jake Zyrus as he posted the simple message of thanks.

There are no tweets from the former Twitter account under Charice's name.

By 2010, Jake had released his self-titled album as Charice, and the same year he landed the role of Sunshine Corazon, a foreign exchange student and the nemesis of Lea Michele's character in Glee.

The Huffington Post reported the Filipino singer came out in 2013 during an interview with Boy Abunda, where he also revealed he had relationships with several females in the music industry.

People reports Jake deleted all traces of Charice from social media and started anew.

The actor and singer, who previously performed under the mononym Charice, rose to fame via YouTube and was dubbed "the most talented girl in the world".
