Interestingly, Pawar only mentioned three probable candidates for the Presidential polls - former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, former Bombay University vice chancellor Bhalchandra Mungerkar and Meira Kumar - at the meeting.

"This is how Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar treated the Leader of Opposition", Swaraj posted along with the video clip. Earlier, Mayawati had extended support to NDA candidate Ram Nath Kovind because of his Dalit background.

On June 23, the RJD chief and opposition parties had also appealed to Kumar to reconsider the JD (U) s support to Kovind but he stood his ground.

Trinamool Congress also wanted the former Speaker.

Kovind filed his nomination papers in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states.

Milwaukee Cop Found Not Guilty In Shooting That Sparked Riots
Former Milwaukee police officer Dominique Heaggan-Brown appears in Milwaukee County Court on June 20, 2017, in Milwaukee. Seven of the jurors were white and five were black. "Because we all bleed the same, we all hurt the same".

The Opposition on Wednesday suffered a blow as the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) announced support for National Democratic Alliance candidate Kovind.

In her 2013 address, Ms Swaraj, as then Leader of the Opposition, had sought to contest the notion that the BJP was disrupting Parliament, saying the party as the principal Opposition was highlighting the charges of corruption against the UPA government and refusing to cooperate with the regime as more scams were tumbling out.

Paswan, who is in Patna to host an Iftar Party on behalf of his Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), an NDA ally, welcomed Nitish Kumar's decision to support Kovind and invited him in the NDA fold.

She also said the President's post can not be used for narrow political interests. JD (U) spokesperson Sanjay Singh said, "We are not wearing bangles and are capable of giving replies, but it will only weaken the alliance". "The BSP will support Meira Kumar in the presidential election", she said.

Ms Swaraj's hostile gesture is seen as towing the leadership line though there was no need for any hysterical reaction in the race which is likely to go Kovind way as BJP and its allies comand majority of votes in the electoral college of the Presidential election that consists of elected MLAs and elected MPs.
