Magic made his intentions known a few days before the draft when he traded D'Angelo Russell to Brooklyn, giving up on the No. 2 pick in the 2015 draft after just two mostly promising seasons.

"D'Angelo is an excellent player", Johnson said at Ball's introductory press conference. In a single breath, Johnson anointed Ball "the new face of the Lakers" and "the guy who will lead us back to where we want to get to".

Now, we're accustomed to seeing players compared to others in their respective sport, but to compare Lonzo's vision on the court to two of the best National Football League quarterbacks of all-time is a stretch. It became clear they would draft a point guard after Russell was traded to the Brooklyn Nets along with center Timofey Mozgov for Stanford-alum and nine-year National Basketball Association center Brook Lopez Tuesday afternoon.

"I went to the high school", Johnson explained his research.

"She still can't talk yet, but she understands me", continued Ball.

So is it any surprise that when the roles were flipped this spring, and it was Johnson studying footage of Ball, that what the old Lakers great saw looked familiar? He treated people the right way.

Perhaps the best way WWE could use Ball would be as a mentor or competitor to Titus O'Neil, who is now pushing his "Titus Brand" on the program. Ball let it be known that he liked what he saw out of the Lakers.

"Listen, there can be a sense of bravado with some of the media stuff, but when you get to see the heart of the person and how they treat others, I think that's when you really get to know them", Pelinka said.

The Lakers have drafted 90 players in the 38 years since Johnson arrived in Los Angeles.

That said, an interaction between O'Neil/Crews and Ball has to happen if the WWE are able to get the leader of the "BBB" on the show. Lakers fans should be excited. "It's going to be a surprise for you [media] and me", Lonzo said.?

They might not want to deal with not just a player but a "brand" - in the mind of his father.

"I think it will make it more challenging, a little bit, but I think every top draft pick that comes in has a target on their back", Walton said.
