Chelsea's Loftus-Cheek joins Crystal Palace on loan

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan, while Nathaniel Chalobah could be following in a permanent exit.

Loftus-Cheek is the 11th Chelsea player to sign a loan elsewhere in this transfer window, following the likes of Tammy Abraham, Ola Aina and Kasey Palmer out of the club.

The 21-year-old told Palace's official website: 'I had the option of coming here and I thought it would be great for me.

He has won two Premier League titles with Chelsea and Jose Mourinho began to put him into the team during the 2014-15 campaign, famously saying he would become a full England global.

Chelsea's Lofuts-Cheek, 21, becomes new Palace manager Frank de Boer's first signing since the Dutchman was appointed last month.

The 21-year-old had a major positional change under the Italian but impressed in the opportunities he was given, but he missed the last leg of the season through injury which saw him make 11 appearances but collect his second Premier League trophy.

For their part, Chelsea and their fans will look for Loftus-Cheek to flourish at Palace and return to west London rejuvenated at the end of his loan spell.

Loftus-Cheek believes Palace are a good club with a strong group of players and he is eagerly looking forward to playing regular football and contributing to their success next season.
