MLB Trade Rumors: Chicago Cubs Interested In Acquiring Sonny Gray

Adding Quintana, especially during a low season for him, is about dominating the next few years, not just making a comeback in 2017. This year, the Cubs have most of the same pitchers with the exception of Chapman, who returned to NY, but they haven't had the same success.

In Quintana the Cubs get someone with ace potential that wont have to be the ace of their staff. Quintana spent all six of his major league seasons on the South Side, but will move north with this deal. For Chicago, right-hander James Shields (2-1, 4.95 ERA) will make his eighth start of the season. Especially when Quintana's combined salaries as a Cub will roughly be the equivalent of Lester's signing bonus.

Gray, 27, has started 13 games for the A's this season, posting a 4-4 record with a 4.00 ERA and 74 strikeouts over 78 2/3 innings of work. Only the Oakland Athletics (50 losses) have a worse record than Chicago in the AL. Should he be picked back up?

"We're really excited to add Jose Quintana to the club". Maybe a scene change will help him.

There were no new plot details, but we saw scenes from the directors' and producers' research trip to Iceland, Finland and Norway. It may not be much to go on, but this news about Elastigirl really leading the charge is incredibly exciting, full-stop.

Left at altar? Store bankruptcy leaves brides in the lurch
The Sun Sentinel reported the company hired Stearns, Weaver Miller law firm in Miami to represent them. The news of the store closing has her scrambling to make sure her wedding goes on as planned.

But the truth is, we're three-and-a-half months into the season, and it's pretty clear that, without some sort of unforeseen revival, that rotation wasn't good enough to make the playoffs.

A trio of former Myrtle Beach Pelicans will see things from a different vantage point starting Thursday evening.

The pair reconnected Monday, spoke Tuesday about the Cubs' willingness to include their top two prospects, and texted throughout the All-Star Game to figure out the final two pieces of the deal. Hahn said he was direct that the deal had to begin with Jimenez and Cease. The Houston Astros and the New York Yankees are reportedly interested in acquiring him, but the asking price may be too steep even for them. He is the number 5 prospect in the minors, and could be in Chicago as early as next summer. In 1973, the Cubs traded nine-time All-Star Ron Santo to the White Sox for a total of four players, including future Cy Young victor and current White Sox broadcaster Steve Stone.

The Cubs will slot Quintana into a rotation that has struggled this season, posting a 4.66 ERA on the season (ranking 17th in baseball and eighth in the National League, right ahead of the Phillies). Minor league infielders Matt Rose and Bryant Flete are also headed to the ChiSox. At 22, he still has plenty of time to figure out how to hit for average. You're talking Jimenez, who is going to be a beast in that park while Cease is going to be a nice arm. We'll assess what we're trying to do in large part based on how we play, where we are in the standings and how realistic we think a World Series run is this year. He gives us a much better chance of doing that on a consistent basis.
