NJ Transit train disabled at Penn Station

At 5:05 p.m., an Amtrak rescue engine towed the disabled NJ Transit train into the station, Tolbert said.

The first train's passengers were provided snacks and water, and power was restored in about an hour, the Amtrak spokesman said. PATH stations in New Jersey, along with the commuter hub at Brooklyn's Atlantic Terminal, are just some of the places that have seen an uptick in commuters since Monday.

Amtrak train 98 stalled shortly before 11 a.m.in one of the Hudson River tunnels, traveling from Miami, Mike Tolbert said.

Amtrak announced service was restored between NY and New Jersey after a delay of about 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, a rescue train brought the train back to the station, where passengers safely disembarked, an Amtrak spokesman said.

More than 90% of the trains heading into Penn were on time this week, Scot Naparstek, Amtrak's chief operating officer, said Friday.

Massive schedule changes are in effect at Penn Station this summer so Amtrak can fix the station's tracks and switches.

An NJ Transit train was delayed due to power problems.

Saturday's malfunction has nothing to do with the rehab project, officials said.
