Palestine denounces ongoing closure of Al-Aqsa mosque

The Israeli prime minister said later on Friday that the compound would be gradually reopened from Sunday, dependent on security assessments.

The attackers were from the Arab Israeli city of Umm al-Fahm near the occupied West Bank.

According to a status quo in force since decades, the jews are permitted to visit the esplanade but not to pray there.

"It is not unreasonable for Israel to have thought that the way to maintain peace and to maintain order and to keep passions down would be to have the mosque closed for the day", he explained.
