Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said an option for Britain during current Brexit negotiations could be "staying within a reformed EU" on Saturday.

Mr Corbyn suggested Mr Blair would recognise the support both he and US Senator Bernie Sanders, a fellow anti-austerity campaigner, enjoy "indicates there's a thirst to do things very differently" with a "more inclusive, more socially just, more egalitarian approach to the world rather than just subsidising the very rich".

Mr Blair said his contacts with senior European figures had convinced him the EU was ready to change and that the option of Britain remaining a member should be left on the table. "The opposition to free movement of people, once you break it down, is much more nuanced".

'I think it's absolutely necessary that it doesn't happen because I think every day is bringing us fresh evidence that it's doing us damage economically, certainly doing us damage politically'.

In comments which have angered some British politicians, Mr Blair suggested that the tide of public opinion was turning against the idea of Brexit and that it was "absolutely necessary" for the United Kingdom stay inside the EU.

The freedom of movement within the European Union and this makes it impossible for the Uk to control immigration have been one of the central motivations for the vote of the British in favour of an exit from the European Union in the referendum of June 23, 2016.

"The majority of British people voted to leave the EU".

The former prime minister claimed the Tories lost their majority in the election because large numbers of people voted to deny Theresa May the mandate for a so-called "hard" Brexit.

Mr Blair has admitted Labour defied his predictions and secured a "remarkable result" at last month's General Election under Mr Corbyn's leadership, which has raised the party's hopes of returning to power.

Pro-EU voters will eventually begin to understand Labour holds the "same damaging position" as the Tories, to leaving the single market to end free movement, and the party should instead champion a "radically distinct" position on Europe.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn met with the chief Brexit negotiator for the EU, Michel Barnier, in the Belgian capital Brussels on Thursday to explore possible ways to preserve partnership with the bloc.

In response, Corbyn told BBC News that the economy would do well under a Labour-led government that focused on raising investment.

EUROPE'S leaders are willing to give Britain back some control over immigration to keep us in the EU, Tony Blair has claimed.
