A 12-year-old girl died after a boating accident on a lake in New Hampshire.

The girl's grandfather described her as someone who was full of life, and he said she was visiting from Colorado, along with an older sister and her parents. The girl had been waterskiing on the lake in front of the Hillside Inn as family members watched from the towing boat, State Police said in a release.

Authorities say drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the incident and no charges are expected.

According to the marine patrol, the girl has been water skiing behind her father's boat when she fell into the water. The tow boat had looped back to allow her another try when the driver was distracted temporarily and the boat struck the girl at a slow speed.
