Similarly to Nintendo's NES/SNES Mini consoles, this box will support classic games.

After going bust (again) in 2013, Chesnais has refocused the company on licensing and mobile and is turning a profit again, so much so that it appears to have the working capital to start building stuff again, for the first time since the Atari Jaguar in 1993.

Atari shared four images from two different editions of the Ataribox, which you can see below, and one edition comes with a wooden front plate and white light, while the other one is made with glass and red elements. Atari is not sharing the specs of the console yet. This week however, Atari is making a return, announcing the Ataribox, which was originally teased last month.

Atari didn't give any more details and said more info on specs, games, features, price, and release date would come later.

You won't be surprised to learn that the Ataribox will be available with a number of classic games to let you bask in the early days of console gaming where we sat on the carpet in front of tiny tube TVs (with rabbit ears on the back, of course).

KitGuru Says: There was a lot of buzz surrounding the Ataribox when it was first teased last month. "We'll be giving you lots more information and status updates as we progress, and we are thrilled to have you along for the ride!"
