The award named after legendary linebacker Dick Butkus has been presented by the Butkus Foundation in every year since 1985.

Western Kentucky senior wide receiver/punt returner Nacarius Fant has been named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List, the Louisville Sports Commission announced Monday morning. Forty-six student-athletes made the cut for this year's watch list. Entering his junior season, Moore has tied a Maryland record for most touchdown catches through two years with nine (tied with Stefon Diggs, Jermaine Lewis and Dan Bungori).

No Big Ten player has won the award since Ohio State's James Laurinaitis in 2006. His 61-yard touchdown catch vs. Vanderbilt from Tyler Ferguson was the longest of his career, and he added more fireworks in the return game.

Eight other Big Ten linebackers also made the watch list, including Ohio State fifth-year senior Chris Worley and junior Jerome Baker, Wisconsin fifth-year senior Jack Cichy and redshirt junior T.J. Edwards, Penn State senior Jason Cabinda, Maryland fifth-year senior Jermaine Carter, Iowa fifth-year senior Josey Jewell and IN senior Tegray Scales. He had a season-high against No. 19 LSU with 93 yards rushing and 68 yards receiving.

The 2017 Watch List was compiled by a panel of college football experts based on a combination of 2016 statistics, career performance, SID recommendations, and expectations heading into the 2017 season.
