R. Kelly accused of holding women against their will in abusive 'cult'

If any of the women break Kelly's rules, he reportedly punishes them "physically and verbally", according to accounts from Mack and another former member of Kelly's "inner circle", Kitti Jones. He reportedly "controls every aspect of their lives: dictating what they eat, how they dress, when they bathe, when they sleep, and how they engage in sexual encounters that he records". Although some parents said they've contacted the police and Federal Bureau of Investigation and filed missing person reports, they still haven't seen their daughters in years and barely communicate.

According to a report by BuzzFeed News published on July 17, 2017, three sets of parents have come forward and accused the "Ignition" singer of holding their young daughters against their will in a "cult".

Buzzfeed obtained audio of R. Kelly's conversations with the then minor, in which he remains disengaged when she mentions her music, clarifying he's "more interested in developing [her]".

One mother, named only as J, alleges that her 19-year-old daughter, whose identity has been kept anonymous, spent over two hours with R Kelly backstage at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California on 23 May 2015, not long after first meeting him at a show in Atlanta. But their daughter isn't a missing person - at least not in the eyes of the law.

The lady - known only as "J" - said that she and her husband "Tim" had heard about past sexual misconduct accusations against R. Kelly but weren't overly anxious. When the Georgia woman arrived at the club, T.S. said, Kelly "bent her over and he whupped her behind because she laughed at the cab driver, who happened to be a man". For her, it is obvious that his daughter is the victim of a cult, and like other families, she was seized by the authorities.

According to Buzzfeed, Kelly splits his time between his home in Trump Tower in Chicago and his suburban house in Atlanta.

The women are allegedly not allowed to look at anyone else, and one of DeRogatis' sources, who says that she was in a sexual relationship with Kelly, tells a story about Kelly slapping her outside of a Subway because she was too friendly with a male cashier.

The Independent has contacted Kelly's representatives for comment.

"In the back of our minds, we were thinking [my daughter] could be around him if I was with her", the mother, referred to as J., said. McGee, one of the three women who used to be in Kelly's entourage, says Kelly is "head over heels" and "obsessed" with the Florida singer. "You have to ask to go use the bathroom", says Mack.

The report says that welfare checks by police in both IL and Georgia over the past year did not lead to charges, and that one of the young women told police she was "fine and did not want to be bothered". "But Robert is the devil", McGee said, suggesting that the singer has two personalities.

Just last week, an 18-year-old girl from Florida, who sources told Buzzfeed was Kelly's "favorite" in his entourage, contacted her father for the first time in a long time, inviting him to come see Kelly perform at a concert in IN this past weekend. In 2008, he was acquitted on 14 child pornography charges.

Cheryl Mack, who previously worked as Kelly's personal assistant, provided even more testimony as to how the singer runs his cult.

The article leans on an interview with parents who haven't seen their "brainwashed" kids in almost two years, as well as legal documentation, and testimonials from former members of Kelly's inner circle.
