Rooney wants Barkley to do the right thing

Spurs have widely reported as suitors for Barkley recently and it appears a move could be back on the cards.

Given the signings that Everton have already made in the summer transfer window so far, Barkley could find it hard to play regularly for the Toffees next season.

There is an expectation that this fact will change in the coming days after Tottenham received a world record fee for a defender from Manchester City for Kyle Walker.

Barkley's reluctance to put pen to paper on a new contract leaves him open to depart as a free agent next summer, with boss Ronald Koeman confessing earlier this week that the situation remains unclear.

"With the ability that Ross has, of course we all want him to be a part of what we're trying to achieve at Everton", United and England's all-time leading goalscorer told reporters. "He can help us get better". Spurs are willing to pay between 25 and 30 million pounds.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the 23-year-old and will try to secure his services before they leave for their pre-season tour of the USA.

Tottenham may also be keen on selling Moussa Sissoko, who Everton were also keen on last summer, before they sign Ross Barkley.

Swansea are holding out for 50 million pounds to sell Gylfi, who left White Hart Lane just before Mauricio Pochettino arrived.

Wayne Rooney wants Ross Barkley to stay at Everton now that he's returned to the club after 13 years away.
