Wavedash are listening to the communities feedback, which as of now is highly critical of its identical gameplay style to Smash as well as mass disapproval with the game's audio and visuals, and the team will be tweaking the game to accommodate this feedback. However, one thing that may have factored into the mod's termination was the group's announcement of new projects being built "from the ground up", with Icons: Combat Arena likely being the game that ceased Project M's production. At the time of writing, the trailer has about as many thumbs down as it does up.

The Icons: Combat Arena open beta will be open to all fighters this Fall.

But YouTube comments are hardly the place to go for serious discussions about the game, and Icons: Combat Arena is having much better luck with the game's Twitter and Subreddit where more content can be seen, such as reassuring gifs like this one.
