Storms to Start Week, Heat to End Week

The dog days of summer are upon us as heat and humidity rolls across the Central Plains. By Monday, we will return to cool, Canadian high pressure. The heat index may rise to 100. Afternoon highs will likely be in the mid-90s, with heat indexes that could reach nearly 100 degrees later this week.

Tonight, it will be clear with a low of 74 and a south southeast wind of 3 to 6 miles per hour, according to the weather service. "The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a unsafe situation in which heat illnesses are possible", according to information posted on the NWS website.

Greater Boston will likely see mostly clear and sunny skies this week with temperatures peaking daily in the 80s, the National Weather Service said. Overnight lows will remain in the mid 70s.

Wednesday. Sunny and hot, with a high near 101. By Thursday, temperatures will hit 100 degrees, the weather service reports.
