Ed Sheeran's appearance as a singing Lannister soldier in Game of Thrones season seven premiere episode was mocked, but director Jeremy Podeswa has nothing but praise for the English musician.

But then he deleted his Twitter account, and everyone reckoned that was because of all the nasty comments that had appeared on there in the wake of the "Game Of Thrones" cameo. The episode's director, Jeremy Podeswa, told Newsweek that the pop star "was appropriate for the part because he needed to sing". "Come on. I love Ed Sheeran but this is all so - come on". "He blends into the world of the show in a nice way where if you didn't have all these associations with him and his musical career, nobody would even blink about his presence on the show", Podeswa said. Sheeran reportedly deactivated his Twitter account on July 18, with people theorizing that it was due to the negative comments about his Game of Thrones appearance, before quickly reactivating it.

However, Podeswa made the point that numerous actors in the Game of Thrones cast are famous like Sheeran. "The only thing I don't feel great about is that Ed is such a lovely guy and really genuine and down-to-earth", Podeswa said. In the world of the show he did a lovely job, and he looks like he belongs in that world. Are they doing a good job? "So I think that's the only drag", he finished.

"I was quite surprised about the reaction actually because I know he's very well known and a successful singer but you're in the bubble of the show-the cast are well known too, everybody is really well known.none of them can walk down the street without being followed".

With Ed now back on Twitter, things seem to be beginning to get back to normal.

Did you know that Ed had previously appeared on a New Zealnad TV show alongside Riverdale hearthrob KJ Apa?!
