Ready to be terrified for the rest of the day? The film known simply as Leatherface got its first trailer today and its creepy, bloody, and it looks like it won't be the nonsense we got with Texas Chainsaw 3D (fingers crossed). The red-band trailer for "Leatherface" is under 2 minutes but yet gives a good insight into just how full on this movie is going to be.

The film will mark the eighth overall entry in the franchise, which now includes, in addition to Tobe Hooper's original, three sequels, a remake, a prequel to the remake and a modern-day "direct sequel".

Leatherface will be available exclusively on DirecTV from September 21, 2017, before receiving a simultaneous VOD and theatrical release on October 20. The film will debut in cinemas later in the year, directed by French filmmaking duo Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo.

What did you think of the first Leatherface trailer? In hot pursuit is a equally deranged lawman out for revenge after the murder of his daughter. The twist, in this case, is that we don't know upfront which of the four escapees will become the iconic chainsaw-wielding killer.

Leatherface stars Stephen Dorff, Jessica Madsen, James Blood, Sam Coleman, Sam Strike, and Vanessa Grasse. The Conjuring's Lili Taylor is Verna Sawyer.

The film takes place in his early years before the original '70s film and finds a young Leatherface sentenced to a mental hospital for ten years. The prequel will follow the young Sawyer family scion and three other patients who escape from a mental facility, kidnapping a nurse in the process, and are pursued by a committed sheriff.
