Miller will direct an adaptation of the 1984 sci-fi novel Neuromancer for Fox, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. And it goes back much further than that, even. Miller is just the latest name, but he comes with a lot of hype after Deadpool and with his own personal VFX studio, Blur, in tow.

Deadpool director Tim Miller left the sequel due to creative differences back in October of past year. Gibson was the first to use the phrase "cyberspace", which quickly caught on as a shorthand term for the internet.

A seminal novel of the cyberpunk genre, Neuromancer introduced a number of concepts that would later become science fiction staples, including outlaw computer hackers, the idea of "cyberspace" and the "matrix". The employer fixes Case's damaged brain, but implants a slow dissolving poison to make sure the cyberspace wiz does his bidding, in attempting to abduct a perverse psychopath who is able to create holograms with the force of his mind.

This would be the third project Miller has joined after his exit from the Deadpool franchise; he is working on Paramount's new Terminator movies with James Cameron, and an adaptation of the Daniel Suarez novel Influx for Fox. It's got different stakes, different things happen, some pretty tragic, dark s**t happens in the first part of the film, in the beginning, and the rest of the film is kind of dealing with that, so that's interesting.
