'Destiny 2' beta brought new changes, Bungie applying new matchmaking rules

Destiny 2 PC Beta changes, fixes and tweaks include updates for Quickplay and Competitive.

A little under a month from its release, developer Bungie has detailed some of the ways it's planning to learn from its upcoming Destiny 2 PC Beta, as well as some of the changes it's implemented since the console beta.

For those who choose to go into Competitive play, the game will select an opponent who is closer to the player's skill level.

While Destiny 2 will take player and group skill rating into account at all times, it will be less of a factor in Quickplay.

The methods that some third-party applications use to add features (inserting code into the game client) are the same as some of the methods hackers and cheaters use to disrupt the experience of other players.

Last but not least, Bungie claimed that the upcoming open PC beta for Destiny 2 will be benefit from the console open beta that was launched in July.

And for those wanting to say goodbye to Destiny before the sequel hits, the final Trials of Osiris goes live tomorrow. This will result in longer matchmaking times, but Bungie expects the "quality of the gameplay experience will be worth the wait". To compliment this, Bungie will improve upon skill calculation in Countdown.

Destiny 2 on PC will include an in-game FPS counter.

The time it takes to charge up Super Abilities has been reduced, as Bungie admitted that was an issue in the console beta.

With the exception of where perks directly increase their range, Warlocks will punch like the rest of us. "We agree it was taking a bit too long to cook up a Super". According to Polygon, millions of players participated in the console beta and the studio has received some meaty feedback that would potentially make the game even better.

"Increased damage helps grenades feel as powerful as they should facing hordes of alien combatants and, more specifically, makes the longer cooldowns more palatable", Hamrick said. That has been bumped up from 75 points to 100 to grant more time to play and use their abilities. The Farm is located in the European Dead Zone, itself a new region in Destiny 2, and will only be accessible for one hour in the console beta for Destiny 2 later this month, with no details yet on whether the same will be true for the PC beta in August.

Sadly Destiny 2 on PC will be releasing after the PS4 and Xbox One versions, missing the September 6 release date given for the console versions.
