Two trapped as light plane flips and crashes at Queensland airport

The Queensland Police Service said it appeared "the plane had a rough landing on the runway" about noon.

Aerial photos showed the Sling 4 plane was extensively damaged in the crash.

The other trapped passenger had "significant lower limb injuries".

Those three were in a stable condition on the Sunshine Coast. The Federal Aviation Administration is on the way to the site to investigate the cause of the crash.

There were two occupants in the airplane.

The crash happened about a half mile away from the road near a field.

A Sunshine Coast Daily team is at the scene but is being kept well back from the crash.

Emergency services were called about 11.45am (local time) on Saturday after the plane was believed to have stalled, flipped and ended up in bushes upside down beyond the runway.

The LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter landed just minutes ago.

The plane is reportedly a private aircraft.

A Police Media spokesman confirmed there had been "some sort of incident" but details were sketchy.
