In what was his first loan spell away from Chelsea, the 6ft 4inch striker scored 26 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions, winning Bristol City's Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Top Goalscorer in the process.

Unless Antonio Conte can organise his men into an astonishing comeback, they will be only the second defending champions to lose their first game of the following campaign.

Unlike the last time they won the Premier League under Jose Mourinho, Conte has chosen to strengthen his side with some big money signings.

Last season, Burnley lost 3-0 at Chelsea and drew 1-1 at Turf Moor but Mee believes that results early in the last campaign, including home wins over Liverpool and Everton and a draw at Manchester United, are a cause for optimism.

The Blues have not always had a straightforward affair with Burnley.

- A frustrated Antonio Conte has admitted that Chelsea do not deserve to be among the favourites for the Premier League title as things stand, despite coming into the season as reigning champions, Sports Illustrated reports.

The Blues' quality far surpasses the likes of Dyche's men, who recently saw striker Andre Gray, seek the slightly greener pastures of Watford.

Arsenal beat Leicester in thrilling Premier League opener
Leicester have since levelled the scores to 1-1 with Shinji Okazaki scoring just 160 seconds after Arsenal took the lead. But he drew encouragement from his side's display. "At the moment, sitting here, I've got a dejected dressing room.

Jack Cork is also pencilled in for a debut in midfield but Phil Bardsley is not fully match fit and may be made to wait. With the Manchester clubs desperate for silverware and Arsene Wenger's job likely depending on a top four finish, Chelsea's 2017-18 could be the most hard season of Conte's career.

"Because through my choices I put the best players that we have with this moment". He was good in some games, inexperienced in others.

"Honestly, I'm pleased because we are working very well with the team and this group of players". Tiemoue Bakayoko was probably the only new recruit who was Conte's first choice, as the same can not be said for Alvaro Morata and Antonio Rudiger, who are clearly players with plenty of potential, but will struggle to live up to their hefty price tags.

Eden Hazard, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Pedro will have to sit this game out due to injuries while Victor Moses will have to serve a suspension. These are the only players not available for selection.

Chelsea begin their title defence on Saturday, August 12, with an as-easy-as-it-gets fixture against Burnley in the English Premier League.

Three points will go a long way this weekend. They have the opportunity to momentarily help us forget about their failed transfer dealings this summer.
