Even if further strengthening takes place, chances are low for Tropical Depression Eight to rapidly intensify and become a hurricane.

Earlier this week, forecasters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration upped their prediction for hurricanes this year after early season conditions in the Tropical Atlantic and Caribbean hinted that more storms are likely. If this storm develops, AccuWeather meteorologists have it taking two potential tracks, one of which would put it uncomfortably close to the Lowcountry.

A cold front along the East Coast should keep the depression away from the eastern seaboard.
