It is estimated that over 150,000 people were killed over those three days.

But legal experts in the USA told the news outlet that the situation is "complicated", suggesting that North Korea's current threats do not necessarily meet all the requirements that justify the U.S. making a pre-emptive attack in self-defense.

The statement from Trump came after Pyongyang ridiculed his "fire and fury" remark by calling it a "load of nonsense".

"S. Korea, U.S. agree to discuss all steps against N. Korea in advance", said a headline at South Korea's Yonhap News Agency.

In an editorial in its main newspaper, the Rodong Sinmun, North Korea promulgates the policy of "juche", meaning self-reliance, claiming ideological independence from its allies - the Soviet Union and China - at that time.

"If the U.S. decides to launch a pre-emptive strike against North Korea, it would eventually give other nations grounds to shun Washington from intervening in future East Asia policies", Kim Dong-yup, a professor at Kyungnam University's Far East Institute told the Korea Herald. What the Moon administration must do to put the brakes on the North Korea and the US's "reckless driving" is to make its opposition to war even clearer to the US while ensuring that the South Korea-US joint military exercises, which will represent the climax of the August crisis, do not needlessly provoke the North.

Saturday: hit-or-miss storms may still bring locally-heavy rain
A weak front drops south of the Valley on Sunday pushing most of the scattered storms southward into Central and South Alabama. The rain will stay clear of the area through the evening, leaving temperatures in the low to mid 70s and a few clouds.

On Aug. 9, American demonstrators in front of the White House in Washington called for peaceful negotiations with North Korea. There are 11 million people on the Korean peninsula who will immediately suffer death and injury if our leaders do not allow for dialogue and compromise. If the US and South Korea launch a pre-emptive strike and try to overthrow the leadership in North Korea, China would come to North Korea's aid, according to the state-run Global Times. Just as Pope Francis said in his World Day of Peace message this past January, we know that "violence is not the cure for our broken world".

Pyongyang revealed a detailed plan to launch missiles against the U.S. Pacific air base on Guam would be completed soon.

"It is crucial for Seoul to be more vocal about its current stance in the tug-of-war between Washington and Pyongyang ..." Following this announcement, US military signaled it could dispatch strategic B-1 bombers to target North Korea's missile launch sites, underground facilities, and other installations, according to RT. China will only remain neutral if Kim Jong-un attacks the USA first.

Zolotarev said Pyongyang's threat to target Guam should not be taken lightly.

According to the retired general, the North Korean military could inflict damage to USA forces in conventional conflict due to their higher combat readiness and military morale.

On Friday morning, Trump informed the public through his Twitter feed that military solutions are fully in place should North Korea engage in additional provocative actions. If South Korea and the USA mobilize strategic assets to carry out a show of force against North Korea during the exercises, some think, North Korea could respond in kind. These exercises, which are held every year, simulate North Korea launching a surprise attack on the South. Trump's predecessors have declared military attacks on other nations without congressional permission.
